Nora Norry stood proudly outside the polling station in Pennsylvania, clutching her voter registration card. It was November 2, 1920, and she was about to make history as one of the first woman to cast her ballot in the state.
The journey to this moment began decades ago, when women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Lucy Stone pioneered the suffrage movement.
Their tireless efforts, including petitions, marches and protests, paved the way for the 19th Amendment's ratification on August 26, 1920.
Nora was a staunch supporter of the Suffrage movement, and had used whatever influence she possessed to help the cause she so firmly believed in.
She had donated often, including funding towards the Justice Bell tour of the State.
As Nora entered the polling station, she felt the weight of their struggles. She thought of the stories of women who endured imprisonment and hunger strikes for the cause.
Now the 19th amendment had passed and become law…the end of a long hard road.
With her ballot in hand, Nora Norry became a part of this legacy. Her vote was more than just a civic duty; it symbolized the triumph of a century-long battle for equality. She was proud to finally be able to have a say in how the country she loved was run.
As she exited the polling station, Nora smiled, knowing she represented countless women who had fought for this moment. Their voices, once silenced, now echoed through the halls of democracy.
